Born into a family of artists, from an early age Sarah Gillard had a fascination for colour and fabrics. Whilst studying textile design at Middlesex Polytechnic, Sarah came into contact with the 'colour guru' Kaffe Fassett. Her first break came when she joined the Liberty Design Studio with responsibility for producing hand-painted colourways for the fashion fabrics and shawls. It was during this time that Sarah began a series of paintings in gouache inspired by my her mother's garden. This led to her first exhibition at The Lyric Theatre London. Since then Sarah has continued to paint and her work has been exhibited in the UK, the RWA , the Bath Society of Artists and The Netherlands.
