About This Piece
The Art
"A portrait of one of the stylish ladies at one of my other favorite lucky haunts, Metier, that has since closed; but lives forever now. Her necklace reminds me of constellations. This was shown in the last show at giant robot in new york. I painted a lot of neighbors and friends from around San Francisco. It was very much a diary show- I do feel my work is a record of a time and place; what I would love to see is someone who collected many over the years and made a wall out of them; which is why I think I put these particular pieces together for Art.com. It's that collection, spanning the years and how I've grown, the people I meet and the things I love, most important is a sense of place (for me, these pieces take place in a real or imagined San Francisco)." -Kelly Tunstall

This giclée print delivers a vivid image with maximum color accuracy and exceptional resolution. The standard for museums and galleries around the world, giclée is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are “sprayed” onto high-quality paper. With the great degree of detail and smooth transitions of color gradients, giclée prints appear much more realistic than other reproduction prints. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is acid free with a smooth surface.

The Artist
Kelly Tunstall received her BA from California College of Arts and Crafts in 2002. Working in acrylic, collage, spray paint, pencil, pen and ink, gold leaf, and some secret sauce, her experimental yet classically-grounded works live somewhat comfortably in a space between graphic expression, stylized representation, surrealism, and sketch. Also working in illustration, installation, and multimedia projects, Tunstall plays with the contrast between a compositional formality and a more casual revelation of method. She has shown nationally and internationally, often in collaboration with her husband, Ferris Plock. Tunstall's work is on permanent view at the restaurants a16 and Bar Crudo, both in San Francisco, and at Hotel Alcazar and Cheeky's, located in Palm Springs. Tunstall recently created a new body of work for a new a16 in Oakland, CA, and collaborated with Plock on a permanently-installed body of work for SPQR: a Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco.
