Reef balls on the sea bed. Reef balls were first developed in the US as a way to help the restoration of damaged coral reefs. They are normally made from a ph balanced concrete material and have a rough surface to promote settling by corals, algae and sponges. They are typically laid on a reef in large groups to create artificial reefs. There has been some debate about their effectiveness. Photographed off Bali, Indonesia. This photographic print is digitally printed on archival photographic paper resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display.
