About This Piece
The Art
This giclée print delivers a vivid image with maximum color accuracy and exceptional resolution. The standard for museums and galleries around the world, giclée is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are “sprayed” onto high-quality paper. With the great degree of detail and smooth transitions of color gradients, giclée prints appear much more realistic than other reproduction prints. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is acid free with a smooth surface.

The Artist
Academic French artist Pierre-Auguste Cot (1837 – 1833) was famous for creating lushly romantic, sensual artworks. He is celebrated for his historical and mythological paintings, particularly “Le Printemps” (“Springtime”) and “The Storm,” which are still exceptionally popular today. Cot was also highly in-demand to paint portraits for Paris’ aristocrats. He studied under several illustrious artists at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and was inspired by Neoclassicism and Romanticism. New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art displays one of Cot’s works, and many of his paintings are featured in the Louvre in Paris.
