Keiichi Nishimura’s ethereal Asian artistry is presented in a soothing style which pays homage to ancient textile traditions and techniques but is rendered through modern interpretation. Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1949, Nishimura studied the art of kimono textile design under apprenticeship to his father. The lustrous texture and effects of his original handpaintings is achieved with ground oyster shell, melted pine sap, and painting on silk and other materials and techniques. Nishimura also applies his artistry to leather that can be found in boutiques and galleries in the United States and Japan. He now makes his home in California.
