About This Piece
The Art
The giclee printing process delivers a fine stream of ink resulting in vivid pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display This art print is produced on a gsm acidfree matte paper

The bright colors, buoyant ambiance and utter enthusiasm of the harlequin in “Pates Baroni” by Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942) effectively entice viewers to eat the pasta being devoured in the poster. Often called the father of modern advertising, Cappiello, originally a caricature artist, utilized exaggerated color, recognizable subjects and humor to shock, surprise, and move viewers to indelibly remember the products he depicted. Producing 1000 posters in 40 years, he gave them a contemporary, 20th century flair, leading the Art Deco movement and setting the precedent for modern advertising techniques.

This giclée print delivers a vivid image with maximum color accuracy and exceptional resolution. The standard for museums and galleries around the world, giclée is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are “sprayed” onto high-quality paper. With the great degree of detail and smooth transitions of color gradients, giclée prints appear much more realistic than other reproduction prints. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is acid free with a smooth surface.

The Artist
Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942), considered to be the father of the modern poster, revolutionized advertising and turned it into a collectible art form. Self-taught, the Italian Cappiello was originally a caricaturist who became the most significant European artist of the early 20th century by masterfully linking products with strikingly colored, contemporary, memorable images. In 40 years he created 1,000 works, including innovative posters for beverages, ballet, literature, plays, travel and music halls. Cappiello led the Art Deco movement, and set standards which are still fundamental to today’s advertising.
