At-Bay, 1880. The British Lion holds a pack of wild dogs at bay. This cartoon relates to an attack in late December 1879 that was made upon the British at Cabul by Afghanistan. Britain's General Roberts withdrew his troops into the shelter of the Sherput Cantonment to await reinforcements. On 23rd December, the Afghans made a further attack, but were driven off. From Punch, or the London Charivari, January 1, 1880. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
