A view of Rhodes, 1480 (1882-1884). In 1309 Rhodes came under the control of the Knights Hospitaller, who became known as the Knights of Rhodes. They built strong fortifications on the island, which withstood a siege by the army of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II in 1480. It eventually fell to Suleiman the Magnificent in 1522. A print from La France et les Français à Travers les Siècles, Volume I, F Roy editor, Saint-Antoine, 1882-1884. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
