Death of Penthesilea, 1484 (1964). From Jacques Milet's L'istoire de la Destruction de Troye la Grant (Story of the Destruction of Troy), Paris, 1484. According to Greek mythology, Penthesilea was an Amazonian queen who fought on the side of Troy in the Trojan Wars, where she was killed by Achilles. A print from A History of Wood Engraving, by Douglas Percy Bliss, Spring Books, London, 1964. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
