Charles W Nash Nash was one of the pioneers of the American motor industry At the end of the th century he joined David Buick and William Durant in forming the Buick Motor Co and by was the companys president and general manager He was then hired by the ailing General Motors to turn their fortunes around He succeeded but his reluctance to pay dividends caused dissatisfaction amongst shareholders and he was forced out of the company in Nash vowed never to work for someone else again and began looking for a business to acquire to establish his own firm He bought Jeffery in renaming it the Nash Motor Co He concentrated on the production of mediumpriced moderatelysized cars and by the time Nash handed the company on to his successsor he had amassed a personal fortune of about million
