Blue Star Line cruise ship SS 'Arandora Star', Norway, c1927-c1939. The 'Arandora Star' entered service with the Blue Star Line in 1927. Norway was one of her regular destinations. She was requisitioned after World War II broke out, and on 1 July 1940 sailed from Liverpool carrying Italian internees and prisoners of war to Newfoundland, as well as British soldiers to guard them. The following day, the 'Andora Star' was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-47 commanded by Commander Gunther Prien, with the loss of over 800 lives. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
