About the Art
Four decades after his death, Frank Lloyd Wright is still considered the most significant architect of the 20th century. During his 70 year career, Wright’s distinctive designs were meant to reflect an American identity as an alternative to traditional European designs. Wright designed more than 500 houses, churches, bridges and other structures. He was also prolific in creating furniture, fabrics and housewares. An educator, author of twenty books, and head of an architectural firm, Wright profoundly influenced modern architectural theory and practice.
