About the Art

Norman Rockwell (1894 – 1978), one of America’s most beloved artists, left a timeless legacy of nostalgic, endearing, whimsical paintings that appealingly and insightfully depict simple, and often idyllic, scenes from daily life. After illustrating a series of children’s books at age 16, Rockwell was hired to be the art director of “Boys’ Life,” the official publication of the Boy Scouts of America. Six years later, he sold his first cover to the most prestigious magazine of the era, the “Saturday Evening Post.” Over the next 47 years, he created 321 covers for the “Post,” which became synonymous with his name. He later worked for “Look” magazine, addressing more serious issues of civil rights, poverty and space exploration.

    Comments:

As a visual challenge, this picture will provide hours of pleasure. I am able to use the intrigue of the picture to tell stories to my young Grandson. A friend thought it was my parents when she first looked at it! Such a clever theme. I wish I could afford the original! It is on my living room, over the fireplace right now, but I plan to move it to the side wall because I need more colour where it is just now. It is so clever, things you see arent there, things you dont see, are there.
The mount and frame are very good quality. I really do wish I had found this website before now.
The price is definately value for money. The packaging was excellent, no movement inside and well protected. The delivery was very quick and the only down side is that it was left on my doorstep. NOT the fault of the seller I hasten to add and I have already had a word (or three!) with the courier as this happens quite a lot.
I can certainly recommend this website and this particular picture. Thank you.
