Recognized as a leading figure in the Golden Age of British book illustration, fantasy illustrator Arthur Rackham RWS (1867-1939) was made a full member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1908. Some of his best-known illustrations were featured in J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and a version of the Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. He used subtle tints and muted tones to represent age and timelessness in his fantasy and fairy illustrations. His original drawings and paintings are sought after at major international art auction houses. Director Guillermo del Toro liked Rackham's gritty, realistic drawings so much that he cited Rackham as an influence in the faun design for Pan's Labyrinth. Show more
