Cherubs are symbolic angelic figures that represent sacred love. Many Renaissance painters in the 14th through 17th centuries and baroque painters in the 17th and 18th centuries created religious artworks that included cherub and cherubim. The most famous cherub artwork was "The Sistine Madonna (Detail)," which was created by Raphael in the early 1510s and is a close-up of the two cherubim at the bottom of his "The Sistine Madonna" painting. Other classical examples of this historic art subject include Albrecht Durer's "The Festival of the Rosary, 1506" and William Adolphe Bouguereau's "Work Interrupted" from the late 1800s. Giclee prints and art prints make it possible to bring religious artworks featuring cherubs home.
