The times of day: The evening, 1821-1822. Found in the collection of the Niedersachsisches Landesmuseum, Hannover. This premium giclee print, an upgrade from the standard giclee print, is produced on thick (310 gsm), textured watercolor paper made from alpha cellulous wood pulp that is acid free. It shares the same vivid colors, accuracy, and exceptional resolution that make giclee prints the standard for museums and galleries around the world. Giclee (French for 'to spray') is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto a high-quality paper. The smooth transitions of color gradients make giclee prints appear much more realistic than other prints.

About the Art

Gothic Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) puts anti-Classical emphasis on experience. Combining the Germanic influences of literature, music and nature as well as politics and religion he presents them allegorically as a force for cultural change. Born in Swedish Pomerania, Friedrich’s darkly enchanting, mystical work was viewed as a shocking breakthrough, bordering on expressionistic confrontation that remains strikingly relevant now. Prussian and Russian royalty often purchased his art, loving its strong, wistful appeal for escape, adventure, and possibility.
