Full view of Io, one of the moons of Jupiter, 1979. Taken from the Voyager 1, this moon was named the pizza moon because of its mottled appearance. Io is highly volcanic and this picture was taken from a distance of 862,000 kilometres. Two Voyager spacecraft were launched in 1977 to explore the planets in the outer solar system. Both flew past Jupiter in 1979 before flying on to Saturn. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
